The next instalment from J Plates comes in the form of the ‘Under The Skin EP’ featuring four dark & brooding tracks, presented with a contemporary twist on the sounds of Techstep from decades past.

‘Acid Pit’ sets the tone with a thumping intro and gristly bass line which melds into a reese driven main section to switch up the arrangement; while ‘Concave’ moves forward with a dominating break, distorted mid line and a synth melody that gravely twists throughout the composition.

Picking up the pace, 'Serial Sinner’ provides a more upbeat groove riding on top of a throbbing sub bass, stabbing melody line, and accompanied by sporadic breaks which help retain a firm footing. Finally, title track ‘Under The Skin’ closes off the release with a relentless filtered synth assault & warbled melody over a foundation of brash drums and an ominously pumping low end; eagerly awaiting an adequate system to envelop.

Overall the ‘Under The Skin EP’ delivers an exceptionally experimental Drum & Bass journey through the darkest depths of the subconscious; best experienced loud in a darkened room or reinforced dance floor.
